FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is the Reykjavik Food Walk worth it?
Yes, especially if this is your first time in Reykjavik. In just 3 hours, you visit 5 hand-picked local spots, enjoy 8+ tastings, learn about Icelandic food and culture from a local guide, and get a much better feel for the city than you would on your own. It is one of the easiest and most delicious ways to start your trip.
What if my plans change?
No worries! You can cancel, reschedule, or place your booking on hold if you let our team know more than 24 hours before the tour.
Bookings changed or cancelled within 24 hours are non-refundable.
What food do you try on the Reykjavik Food Walk?
You get a true introduction to Icelandic cuisine by tasting some of the foods and flavours that define it best. The tour includes 8+ tastings across 5 local spots, with highlights that can include Icelandic lamb, fresh fish, the famous Icelandic hot dog, dessert, and other local favourites.
Our stops and tastings are not always exactly the same, and we like to leave a few delicious surprises for you to discover on the tour.
Is all food included in the price?
Yes, everything is included. There are no extra food costs during the tour. Just arrive hungry like a wolf and we will take care of the rest.
Is this a good first-day activity in Reykjavik?
Absolutely. The Reykjavik Food Walk is designed as the perfect first-day experience because you get to eat well, meet a local guide, see the city, and quickly learn where locals like to go. Many guests use it as their introduction to both Reykjavik and Icelandic food.
How much walking is involved?
The walking is easy and slow-paced. The tour covers about 2 km, or 1.2 miles, and you are never walking far before the next stop to sit down and enjoy more food.
Is it possible to do a private Reykjavik Food Walk?
Of course. Private Reykjavik Food Walks are a popular choice for families, groups of friends, larger groups, and travellers who prefer a more personal experience.
If you would like to organise a private tour, simply send us an email at info@thereykjavikfoodwalk.com, and we will help you arrange it. Our super friendly office team will get back to you right away!
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?
Usually, yes. The tour can generally accommodate vegetarian and pescatarian guests, as well as gluten and lactose intolerance, and it is also easy to avoid ingredients like nuts, seeds, fruits, and shellfish when needed. Guests are asked to share dietary needs when booking. Vegan guests are welcome, but traditional Icelandic cuisine is much harder to adapt for a vegan diet.
How many people are on each tour?
The tours are intentionally kept small to make the experience more personal, authentic, and fun. Our open tours are capped at 12 to 14 guests, with private tours available for larger groups.
Where does the tour start and end?
The tour starts by the main entrance of Harpa Concert Hall in central Reykjavik, which is within walking distance of most downtown hotels. It ends in downtown Reykjavik as well, just a short walk from the meeting point.
Why do so many travelers choose this tour?
Because it combines the best parts of a city tour and a food experience in one.
The Reykjavik Food Walk is the original Food tour in Reykjavik, with more than 19,000 5-star TripAdvisor reviews and over 150,000 guests since 2015, plus small groups, local guides, and a money-back guarantee.
